Photo and digital retouching · Barcelona — Girona

Professional photo retouching. AI-generated images too.

Toni Riera AI Studio retouches photos, renders and AI-generated images for brands, agencies and studios. The product stays true to the real one: exact type, logo, shape and colour. And the skin, textures and light look natural. AI gets you 90% of the way. The missing 10%, what makes an image ready to publish, is my job: after 15 years as an art director in advertising, I retouch every image by hand in Photoshop.

Within 24–48 h I’ll tell you whether I can fix it and what it costs.

Almost ready isn’t ready.

An AI-generated image can have superb composition and light and, at the same time, a warped logo, unreadable text, strange hands or plastic skin. A photo or render can have the perfect product and a background that doesn’t fit, reflections that are wrong or a resolution too low for print.

Regenerating the image rarely fixes it: you fix one thing and break another. It takes someone to retouch it until it’s ready to publish.

How I work

Every image goes through my hands, from review to final file.

  1. I review the image and tell you straightWhat can be kept, what needs retouching and whether any part has to be rebuilt. If it can’t be fixed, I’ll tell you before quoting.
  2. I restore the real productI start from photos, renders or packaging files to rebuild the exact type, logo, shape and colour.
  3. I retouch by hand in PhotoshopSkin, hair, hands, materials and textures; light, reflections and contact shadows, so nothing looks pasted in.
  4. I clean up and extendI remove what doesn’t belong, extend the background when the format needs it and match the colour of a series so it works as one campaign.
  5. I prepare the deliveryI upscale and retouch zone by zone up to the final size: RGB for screen or CMYK for print, large format included.

Retouching projects

When retouching makes sense (and when it doesn’t)

Retouching makes sense when…

  • The composition, light and idea already work, and the detail fails: the product, the type, the skin, the hands.
  • You need the image larger than the tool delivers, for print or a banner.
  • You have a series of images that must look like one campaign.

It’s better to start again when…

  • The composition or the idea doesn’t work: no retouching will fix that.
  • The product has to be rebuilt almost entirely. Then you need a new product image, made from the real product.

For agencies, studios and photographers

I work as an external retoucher from your material and art direction: photography, CGI or AI-generated images. White label too, without appearing in front of your client; where possible, I ask to show the project once it’s published.

I’ve worked with DDB, Wild Pony, TITBIT, The IAIAS, Havas Play and La Bendita Agencia, among others.

Who’s behind it

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to retouch an image?

Retouching an image up to 4K starts at €200, and high-resolution retouching for print from 5K starts at €400. For series of the same product there are packs from €40 per image. Guide prices, excluding VAT.

Can you fix an image I made with AI?

Yes, it’s a large part of my work. I fix the product, the type, the logo, the hands, the skin and the textures so the image is ready to publish. Before starting, I tell you what can be kept and what needs rebuilding.

Can you fix the text or logo in an AI-generated image?

Yes. I rebuild the type and logo from the brand’s original file, with the perspective, light and texture of the surface they sit on, so they don’t look stuck on.

Can you make an AI image look real?

Yes. What gives it away is usually skin that’s too smooth, plastic textures, light that doesn’t match or impossible details. I retouch it by hand until the image looks photographed.

Can you upscale an image for large-format print?

Yes. I upscale and retouch it zone by zone up to the final size, in CMYK. I’ve done it for bus shelters and for the CCCB exhibition graphics of “Rodoreda, a Forest”.

Do you also retouch photos and renders?

Yes. I retouch product photography, CGI and AI-generated images, and I often combine them: a 3D or photographed product placed into an AI-made scene.

How many revisions are included?

One or two rounds of revisions, depending on the job; we set it in the quote. Each extra round from €50.

How long does it take?

It depends on my workload at the time. I’ll confirm it with the quote, within 24–48 h. Urgent deliveries, in under 48 h, carry a 25% surcharge.

What format do you deliver in?

At the agreed size and format, in RGB for screen or CMYK for print. If you need the layered PSD, I can deliver it too, at an extra cost.

Do you work white label with agencies?

Yes. I work from your material and art direction, without appearing in front of the end client. Where possible, I ask to show the project once it’s published.
